In this project, I demonstrated essential skills for a cybersecurity professional by managing file permissions on a Linux system. I showcased my ability to use key commands like `ls -la` to inspect existing permissions and `chmod` to modify them according to specific security requirements. I demonstrated my understanding of the Linux permissions model, including the distinction between user, group, and other access levels, as well as read, write, and execute permissions. This knowledge is crucial for maintaining the principle of least privilege and ensuring proper access controls in a secure environment.

Furthermore, my project highlights my attention to detail and methodical approach to security tasks. I systematically addressed various scenarios, including modifying permissions for regular files, hidden files, and directories. I also showed awareness of potential security risks, such as removing unnecessary write access and restricting directory access to specific users. These skills are directly applicable to real-world cybersecurity roles, where managing access controls and implementing security policies are critical responsibilities. Overall, this project serves as strong evidence of my practical Linux skills and security-minded approach to system administration.
